On the invitation of the Belarusian students, a renowned Belarusian historian, ethnologist and cultural anthropologist, Dr Pavel Tereshkovich, is visiting Heidelberg with his lecture “Belarusian way to (post)modernity”. Dr Tereshkovich has published over a hundred manuscripts and research articles on Belarusian history and the formation of Belarusian identity. He was the founder of the Ethnology, Museology and History of Arts Department at the Belarusian State University (Minsk, Belarus), the head of the Department of History of the European Humanities University (Vilnius, Lithuania) and a guest researcher at Justus Liebig University (Gießen, Germany).
He was forced to resign as a Professor of the Belarusian State University and leave the country after 2020 due to his anti-regime political stance. Recently, Dr Tereshkovich has focused on the research of the influence of the “Russkij mir” in the historical processes of Central and Eastern Europe, especially Belarus.
Dr Tereshkovich will host a lecture analysing and digesting the Belarusian history of the past two centuries, elucidating on the processes that established the status quo and their developments in present as well as potential future prospects. The lecture will be held in Belarusian with an option of simultaneous interpretation into English.
