Modern Biograph presents - Early American Cinema

Our second screening, "Early American Cinema", brings together six short films from the first American film studios between the 1900s and 1910s, an often overlooked period of film history, when the industry was located in the East Coast instead of Hollywood. Two films from each of the three big studios (Edison Studios, Biograph and Vitagraph) will be shown.

Join us on Monday August 10th, 2026 at Oberbadgasse 6, 69117 for the screening and a pre- and post-talk about the period of American cinema in the East Coast, the Edison Trust and how it forced the move to Hollywood, the importance of Edwin S. Porter and D.W. Griffith to cinema and a formal analysis of each film."
