Invitation to a special session of the AGSM: Establishment of agDOCS working group for doctoral students

When? Mo 16.02.2015

Where? Senate Hall in the Old University building

Dear doctoral students,

As discussed in an initial meeting in November 2014 and in coordination with Vice-rectors Prof. Dr. Beatrix Busse and Prof. Dr. Óscar Loureda , I wish to cordially invite you to a special session of the Student Participation Working Group (AGSM) to discuss the next steps toward establishing a Doctoral Student Council at Heidelberg University.

The new State Higher Education Act provides for the implementation of a Doctoral Student Council, a new panel whose members include all doctoral degree candidates and in which they exercise specific rights of co-determination. The session will address the establishment of an agDOCS working group that will prepare for implementing the Heidelberg Doctoral Student Council in the near future. The registration of all doctoral candidates at Heidelberg University is essential to setting up a central Heidelberg Doctoral Student Council, thus ensuring that all those pursuing graduate study have the same opportunities to contribute to the new panel and create democratic structures of representation. In this connection, Prof. Loureda, Vice-rector for Quality Development, will discuss the current status of data collection in the heiDOCS project.

All interested doctoral candidates are cordially invited.

Sincerely,

Marietta Fuhrmann-Koch
